The Green Family & NOOP - "2013 Nominee for Group of the Year"

2013 Gospel Music Awards Nominee - The Green Family & New Order of Praise

The Green Family singing career originated in the early 60’s, two teenaged sisters Arrie Lee Green and Dorothy Green begin singing in the Little Friendship Baptist Church choir in Atlanta, Georgia under the direction of Inez Mayfield, who took the girls under her wings. Arrie with her glass breaking soprano and Dorothy’s strong alto were noticed.

The Sisters were asked to join a newly formed gospel group “The Mozetts”, created by Alvin Jones and the late Donald Vales. The group performed weekly on WAOK AM radio with the late Brother Edsmond Patterson, Harrison Smith and many more. They also performed on Edsmond Patterson’s anniversary programs. In addition, they appeared with artist such as, The Five Trumpets, Soul Searchers, Inez Mayfield Gospel Singers, Dorothy Norwood and the late James Cleveland.

In later years, song writer and musician Donald Vales pursued his career with James Cleveland and moved from Atlanta. The Mozetts continued for a few years then ceased. In late 1971, Arrie wanted to start a group, this time with her four sisters, Dorothy, Barbara and her two teen-age siblings Loretta and Catherine.

In 1972 the five Green sisters joined Carey Park COGIC, under the leadership of the late Robert L. Humphries, Sr. The Lord had a different route for the sisters. After accepting Christ and the Holy Ghost, God’s anointing was felt through their singing. They were later named The Robert Humphries Singers and performed locally within COGIC events. They were members of the Northern Georgia Recording State Choir under the direction of Dr. Roosevelt Daniels. They also participated with the COGIC International Choir under the direction of the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clarke.

The late Lee (Pop) Green and Sarah were the parents of seven daughters’ one son Bobby (Sack) Green, who had his own singing career with The Essentials and Contagious, which were R & B groups. They traveled and open shows for various recording artists and recorded their album in the early 80’s.

During the years as the Green children raised their children, the anointing and talents were passed to the children and grandchildren.

In February 2009, God began to speak to Loretta’s son Charles, who is a talented and anointed musician. Charles formed a family fellowship meeting at Loretta’s house and informed his family what the Lord reveled to him regarding the families singing talent. “It is time for this family to start back ministering to the world through song”, said Charles. Charles was not aware that Bobby (Sack) was revealed the same message about the family. We knew that God was in this and we were on one accord with the call.

The name, “Green Family New Order of Praise” was introduced by Bobby (Sack) Green the way that the Lord had given it to him. God had already begun to bless with studio equipment and a place to work in Sack’s basement, which he constructed. The Green family is currently working on the first CD project and has begun to host listening sessions, which have been successful.

The Green Family was nominated and received the Group of the Year Award in 2012 by the NAGPM Organization in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, appeared on the Bobby Jones Gospel Presents for new artist in Nashville, Tennessee 2011.

This family chorale consists of the original Green siblings, Arrie, Dorothy, Bobby and his wife Irish who is talented and anointed in her writing; Barbara, Loretta, Catherine and the children; Charles, Tameikoe, Latisha and Bobby Jr. Our goal is to win souls for Christ through song. We dedicate our first single titled, “It’s In The Praise” to our late parents, Lee and Sarah Green and late grandmother, Zora “Big Ma” Ball.
